Preschool programs soaring to new heights

The Weekday Children's Ministries at First United Methodist Church are alive and growing! If you find yourself at the church one morning during the week, you will quickly see (and hear) the focus our church gives to children. Our program is licensed by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory services and serves over 130 children.

Our Preschool was founded in 1977 with one class of eight children and now offers two-, three-, and five-day-a-week classes for three and four year olds. Our certified teachers and teaching assistants plan their curriculum by themes and incorporate preschool math. Artwork, field trips, daily devotional times and play time, in addition to weekly Music, Physical Education, Spanish and Chapel, provide enrichment.

We also offer a Parents' Day Out called Kids' Kastle on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Kids' Kastle is from 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Children six months through age five will experience playtime, playground time, crafts, singing, snack, lunch, rest time - all with a Christian focus. Our staff includes 28 qualified, nurturing teachers. Susan Barnett is the Director and Diane Shavers is the Assistant Director.
